Is there anything more like a roller coaster than a Rocky Mountain Spring? As I write this March message, I am looking forward to a sunny tomorrow with temperatures in the mid-fifties. This bright day is going to be sandwiched between episodes of drizzling rain and snow. Still, the very movement of the seasons, the uncertainty of events is exciting.
Another event that I am looking forward to is our upcoming Spring show. Like the seasons, the only certainty is that there is no predicting exactly what it will be like. Which plants will be ready in time, and which will tragically bloom either a week prior or a week after the event? What will the day of the show bring in either weather or crowds?
Whatever the outcome, it is not too early to start getting ready. Mark your calendars for April 6th and 7th, (set-up on the 5th). Examine the plants in your collection and decide when staking blooms will show them to their perfection. Keep a close eye on which plants are good candidates for exhibition, and please, register them on-line. The process is easy, and it greatly streamlines the show.
Our guest speaker will be Roger Cole at our next scheduled meeting, March 11th. He will be presenting on tolumnias and will be bringing plants for sale. I hope to see many of you there.
